Justice
The dramatic anchor of the palette.
A one-run print that turns the entire garment into a moving piece of New Orleans.
Mardi Gras is not a small, centered experience. It spills into streets, balconies and every surface within reach. So instead of building another chest graphic, we treated the shirt itself as the canvas—layering color, type and Carnival detail from collar to hem.
“With an allover print, there is nowhere for the design to hide. Every seam, repeat and color shift has to feel intentional. The goal was to make something loud enough for Mardi Gras, but clean enough that people would still want to wear it after the parade.”Connor Hebert — Customer Care Specialist
Rex adopted purple, green and gold as Carnival colors in 1872. Twenty years later, its “Symbolism of Colors” parade attached the meanings now repeated across Mardi Gras: purple for justice, green for faith and gold for power.
New Orleans had already been shaping a distinct Carnival language. French explorers recorded “Pointe du Mardi Gras” in the region in 1699, and the Mistick Krewe of Comus staged the city’s influential first themed float parade in 1857. The city turned Carnival into a public visual spectacle—built from masks, krewes, floats and motion.
The dramatic anchor of the palette.
The color that keeps the pattern moving.
The flash that makes the entire print land.
The repeat moves in every direction so the garment feels alive from every angle. Purple, green and gold do the historical heavy lifting; the dense composition does the New Orleans work—crowded, rhythmic and designed to be seen in motion.
Produced as a limited edition, the piece feels closer to a souvenir from a specific night than a standard holiday tee. That was the point: not a logo placed on Mardi Gras, but Mardi Gras built into the apparel.
