Dire Wolf Athletics: Murph 2025 Portrait Edition

Dire Wolf Athletics: Portrait Edition

Murph is named after a person. Dire Wolf Athletics wanted their gym shirts to reflect that, and put a face to the name right on the front of the shirt.

Overview

Printed on a black crop tee, the front pairs "MURPH" and "2025" in white and blue bar type on the left side with a circular medallion portrait of a soldier set against an American flag filling the right. The red ring border around the circle gives it the look of a commemorative coin or a unit patch. The soldier portrait rendered in high contrast black and white against the full color flag background is the design choice that sets these murph tshirts apart from everything else in the category. The back carries the Dire Wolf Athletics wolf kettlebell logo in white at the upper yoke, small and clean. The crop cut was a deliberate garment choice that skews toward the athletic women in the gym without losing any of the design's seriousness.

Results

Most crossfit shirts reference Murph through symbols. This one puts a person front and center, which is a harder thing to do well and Dire Wolf Athletics pulled it off. The medallion format makes it feel like something worth keeping rather than something to sweat through once and retire. These are gym shirts people will hold onto because they actually mean something to look at.
